Martin Arnold receives the Open Oor Prize
Canadian composer Martin Arnold is the recipient of the Open Oor Prijs, and we are proud to participate in the concert in his honor at November Music. The Amsterdam-based Trillende Lucht Foundation awards the Open Oor Prize every two years to composers who create their own unique soundscapes. It is an incentive award for experienced and aspiring composers who are not afraid to take risks. Previous awards have gone to artists including Gilius van Bergeijk, Anna Korsun, and Eliane Radigue. Unconventional composers who, despite all trends, cling to and further develop their unique sound language.
We perform Rill 69 (2017) piano quintet with Reinier van Houdt, and Martin’s iconic contact;vault (1997) inspired by Stockhausen’s electronic piece called Kontakte (1958-60) and explores different and unusual sonic combinations of the string quartet. |

Duo Burrows-Fargion
It is with great pleasure that we will perform a new version of Any Table, Any Room (2017, rev. 2025), an enchanting musical theater piece conceived by composer Matteo Fargion and choreographer Jonathan Burrows, blending gentle theatricality with musical textures, subtle ritual, and understated humor. Quatuor Bozzini joins Fargion/Burrows on stage, manipulating everyday objects, exploring the dichotomy between autonomy and collectivity.

Carola Bauckholt: Hirn & Ei
A central theme of Bauckholt's work is the examination of the phenomena of perception and understanding. Her compositions often blur the boundaries between visual arts, musical theater and concert music. She is especially fond of using noisy sounds, which are often produced by unconventional means. In Hirn & Ei (2010-11), we explore rhythm and articulation without our instruments, instead creating swishing sounds using only Gore-Tex jackets. A playful and bewildering moment! James Weeks - weatherworld quartets
On November 25 in Durham, UK, we perform the world premiere of James Weeks’ weatherworld quartets (2022-25) cycle. Sensory and bodily experiences of weather phenomena are expressed in different ways, mimicking sounds of wind and rain, and using foliage as musical instruments. Through these techniques, Weeks heightens the exploration of an intimate, immersed way of being in the natural world that speaks urgently to our need for ecological reconnection.
