During the Saturday marathon night on September 13, we look forward to getting back together with our good friends and collaborators Yannis Kyriakides (composition, electronics) and Andy Moor (electric guitar, cassette tapes), for another rendition of ‘Hypnokaséta’ (2020) (YouTube video), a piece inspired by Yannis’ dream journal.

Then we have world premieres of our brand new Composer Kitchen 2025 pieces on September 14 by Julia Mermelstein, Lucie Nezri, Nikolaus Schroeder, and Corie Rose Soumah. During our week in Utrecht, we run Phase 2 of the CK residency, finalizing scores that started as sketches back in June 2025. Mentors Zosha Di Castri and Maya Verlaak are joining us.
Mermelstein’s ‘Brush (in open air) (in resin)’ is about accumulated sound memories from nature, from bodies from song; Nezri’s ‘for quatuor bozzini,’ is also about memory, but stemming from half-rememberd and half-erased memories of Arab-Andalusian musical tradition; Schroeder’s ‘Freeze piece’ investigates existential questions about string quartet, and Soumah’s ‘We, To Be So Transformed,’ inspired by a dystopian novel by Marlen Haushofer.
The Composer’s Kitchen 2025 program will be repeated in Montreal on October 19.
